Guyot now uses the anchor shown in Fig. 39, consisting of a steel ring A lying flat on the ground, and kept in place by four pegs P strapped on the ring at B, the traction chain C passes over the ring. With this arrangement the pegs blocked by the straps cannot lean, and offer great resistance to the traction f without requiring the ramming of the soil necessary when using a beam.
